Attire

This is not a traditional wedding! It is an entirely outdoor event. Dress for a day in the woods by the lake.  We recommend bringing a change of clothes,  sturdy shoes, a towel, bug spray, and sunblock. Expect to encounter grass, sand, water, river rocks, and perhaps mud.

Cross the river

The Adventure begins at the river, all guests are to cross the river either with their vessel or as a passenger on a canoe, navigated by one of our River Ushers. Crossing the river takes less than 10 minutes.

Walk in the woods

After crossing the river, take in the beauty of Burlington Island! Walk the moss-covered trail for a 1/2 mile, and follow the blue path nature trail markers. You can't miss them!

Arrive at the lake 

The trail will lead you to our lakeshore wedding ceremony and celebration feast.

We joyfully encourage all of our guests to swim, hike, bring a paddle board, canoe, kayak, fishing rod or, lay by the lake, hang a hammock, hike the nature trails, bird watch and so on! We want this to be a wedding experience that gives all our guests an opportunity to commune with nature to the fullest.

On that note, Burlington Island is uninhabited with no modern amenities. Just the great outdoors!
